Discerning a year of service and leadership development is a big decision, and we are here for you every step of the way. Our application process is designed to ensure you have the information and support to reflect on your wants and needs so that you make the best decision for yourself. Our applicants need not commit to Amate House before knowing where and with whom you’ll be working.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis from mid-September through June of the academic year.
Site placement is on a first-come, first-serve basis. For the best look at job placements for next year, our priority deadline is December 15, 2024.

Stage 2
Next Steps
Participate in formal interview with our Amate House staff, Our team will review all application materials, including references and resumes, and make final decisions around your application status.
Formal interview will take place over zoom.
Stage 3
Placement
Upon formal acceptance into the Amate House program, our staff will make site recommendations to you based on your interests. From here, you can begin exploring the curated job descriptions of our site partners and select three sites to interview with. Amate House staff will connect you with our site partners so you can interview with them independently.
Stage 4
Commitment
After interviewing with our site partners that meet your personal interests, you will rank your first, second, and third placement choice. Amate House will communicate directly with each site to determine your placement. Amate House staff will then send you an official offer for the program, specifying what service site you would be working with. Candidates will have two business days to decide whether to accept or decline an offer.

Stage 2: Zoom Interview
After you submit all application materials, a member of our team will reach out to schedule a formal interview with you.
Formal interviews are part of the discernment process and allow you to get a better sense of whether Amate House is the right opportunity for you.
All interviews will take place virtually via Zoom.

Life as a Fellow: Virtual Conversations with Current Fellows:
You can schedule a virtual session with a current Amate House fellow anytime that works for you! They will tell you the real deal about what it’s like to live in Chicago, serve in a field of your choice, and experience personal growth. Additionally, you can connect with our alumni to gain further insights into their experiences and the impact of the Amate fellowship.

*Participation in a one-on-one session is not a mandatory part of our application process, but we highly encourage it as it will allow you to meet current fellows, have your questions answered in real-time, and aid in your discernment.
