Current Amate House Volunteers

Davis Brown

Davis Brown is from St. Joseph, Michigan. He is a graduate of Indiana University South Bend and serves at Academy of St. Benedict the African Elementary School. When asked about the tenet of community, Davis shared that, “In a world driven towards individuality, the Amate House community is a refreshing change that impacts both personal growth and an awareness of others' needs.”

Megan Clarke

Megan Clarke is from Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University and serves at St. James Food Pantry. When asked about her hopes, Megan shared, “I hope to strengthen my relationship with God and make connections with the non-profit sector in Chicago.”

Michelle Dominguez

Michelle Dominguez is from Rockford, Illinois. She is a graduate of DePaul University and serves at Catholic Charities Southwest Regional Office. Michelle is looking forward to living in community this year, “I know it’s not a particularly easy thing to do; it really tests you and yet provides wonderful collective memories with other people.”

Brian O’Connor

Brian O’Connor is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University and serves at Erie Family Health Center. Brian shares that, “Amate House presents a year-long opportunity to, among many other things; fight for meaningful changes in Chicago's most marginalized and impoverished communities.”

Emma Stiver

Emma Stiver is a second-year Volunteer from Loveland, Ohio. She is a graduate of the University of Dayton and serves at Girls in the Game. She shared that she was, “Drawn to [Amate House’s] mission of putting love into action. The power of this mission was something I often reflected on and wanted to continue living and exploring outside a college setting and as a young adult.”

Melissa Tsuleff

Melissa Tsuleff is a second-year Volunteer from West Harrison, Indiana. She is a graduate of Lindenwood University and serves at the St. John Paul II Newman Center at UIC. She feels a strong connection to Amate House’s tenet of community. She shares, “I love being around people and spending time living intentionally with others.”
