Current Amate House Fellows

Anna Brende

Anna Brende is from St. Louis, Missouri, and she attended The Catholic University of America. She serves at Catholic Charities West Regional Services, where we have been placing fellows since 2004. She will have the opportunity to work in several of their programs serving the west side of Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

Madison Burgei

Madison Burgei is from Delphos, Ohio, and is a graduate of the University of Dayton. She serves at Erie Johnson School-Based Health Center. Amate House has placed fellows with Erie Johnson School for four years. Maddie will be involved with many different community health education programs at the center.

Frida De Santiago

Frida De Santiago is from Chicago, Illinois, and attended Hope College. She serves at New Moms, a relatively new Amate House site. Frida will be the second Amate House fellow to serve there and will work closely with young mothers and their children, connecting them with resources and providing support.

Raijheen Edwards

Raijheen Edwards is from St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, and is a graduate of Iona College. She serves at the Marjorie Kovler Center, a Heartland Alliance program that supports victims of politically-sanctioned torture. Amate House has placed 25 fellows with the Kovler Center since 2000.

Harry Helbock

Harry Helbock is from Cohasset, Massachusetts, and attended The University of Scranton. He serves at Catholic Charities – St. Sabina Social Services Center. Amate House has been placing fellows at the St. Sabina Center, located in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, since 2006.

Fiona Holahan

Fiona Holahan is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is a graduate of St. Norbert College. She serves at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School, a site that has hosted twenty Amate House fellows dating back to 1991. Fiona will be serving as the religion teacher.

Anni-Ming Larson

Anni-Ming Larson is from New York, New York, and attended the State University of New York at Geneseo. She serves at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, a new Amate House partner site that seeks to meet the legal needs of survivors of domestic violence.

Edmund Nuñez

Edmund Nuñez is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Creighton University and serves at Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago. Arrupe College is a new site partner of Amate House this year, and Ed will be working as a campus minister to students of this new two-year college.

Margaret Pierce

Margaret Pierce is from Athens, Georgia, and is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She serves at Envision Unlimited, another new Amate House partnership. Envision serves people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities across the Chicago area.

Keith Weissman

Keith Weissman is from Wheaton, Illinois, and attended Boston College. He serves at Erie West Town Health Center. Amate House has partnered with Erie Health Centers for 17 years and has had 23 Amate House fellows working at their health centers across the Chicago area.

Julian Zuzarte

Julian Zuzarte is from Baltimore, Maryland, and is a graduate of Saint Joseph University. He serves at Taller de José, an organization that offers companionship to primarily Spanish speakers in the Little Village neighborhood. Nine Amate House fellows have served with Taller de José since its opening in 2008.
